Subscribe to the newsletterWhat this blog is
This is the writing and craft side of Tumbleweed Words — essays on minimalist fiction, flash fiction technique, literary publishing, and what it actually looks like to maintain a writing practice on the road. The fiction and poetry lives on the newsletter. The thinking about the work lives here.
The writing
My fiction and poetry has been published internationally in New York, Lisbon, Toronto, and London. I have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. Most of what I write is produced in transit — on trains, in hotel rooms, at café tables in cities I am passing through.
Tumbleweed Words has been running on Substack for five years with over a thousand subscribers. The best place to start is the Substack archive.
The essays
The craft essays on this blog cover what I actually know: how to write flash fiction, minimalist fiction techniques, writing while nomadic, and where to submit. Written for serious readers of fiction, not beginners looking for generic tips.
